The Unnecessary Hate

If we are all made in God’s image, then why are so many of us persecuted, shamed, and cast out for simply being who we are, how God supposedly made us?

Short side rant…

I will never understand book burners. If they truly thought burning books would help, they should have started with the Bible. That book is responsible for more death and destruction, more division and hate than any other book ever written.

Yet, that too would be wrong because the Bible also brings a message of love. Love!

The truth is, no book has ever harmed anyone. People hurt people, mostly to try and stem the pain in their own soul.

We still have much work to do. Too many young LGBTQ+ teenagers are persecuted, shamed, forced by their parents to go through conversion therapy and fall into deep isolated depression.

Conversion therapy is abusive at best and pure torture at its worst. It should be illegal in every state

Light a candle tonight for those struggling. Light a candle tonight for those who will not see tomorrow because an open vein or a shot to the head is the better alternative to living through another day of suffering simply because of who they are. Light a candle for those who do make it to the dawn and find help, love, support, acceptance, and affirmation.

But please, don’t lght a candle to burn another fucking book.

When will we get it? We are all connected. We all share the pain. Stop pretending otherwise. Instead, be kind. Be love. Offer help. Offer hope. Helping others helps you.
