#TBT Aug 7, 2025: Going The Distance

Anger, fear, I drive. Sadness, pain, I drive. Contemplation, I drive. Confrontation, I drive. Reconcile, learn, grow, love, hope, I drive.

“I am not your spinning wheels. I am the highway.”

Sometimes this lonely road I travel converges with others on their own lonely journey. Today was one of those days. 4 strangers parting as friends.

And just like that my faith in humanity is restored. Well, mostly…😉🎵💚💜🧑‍🦯😎

I met some remarkable people who inspired me today during one of my weekly treatments. Like me, these 3 people, Larry, Suzie, and Matt have struggled and faced difficult obstacles along their journey. I want to keep this post brief but after meeting these wonderful people who just happened to be in a small dimly lit treatment room with me for 2 hours, I definitely hope to share more of their stories with you.

In the meantime, let’s just say they are all beacons of hope and perseverance, never giving up in the battle for wellness. Today I met 3 kindness warriors with similar battle scars. And, I am a better man for it.

With that, I thought I might change gears on the music choice this week. This incredible piece of music along with the rest of the Rocky Original Film Score by Bill Conti turns 50 next year.

My new friends have reminded me, as I am now reminding you,

You might have moments you think you are done, lost, hopeless.

Listen to the music.

Then, get your ASS off the mat and get back in the fight. You are not alone. We are all in this together. Let the music stir your emotion. If you feel a few hairs on the back of your neck rise, that is the feeling of being alive. That is your body and soul telling you to go the distance!

So if you ever feel like you are lost in the dark, give me a shout. I have been there many times. And folks, I know the way out. Just remember  to shine YOUR light back for others to follow.
